At 5:30 a.m., I woke up. Took a shower and performed the Subuh prayer. I began preparing my belongings for today’s interview in Petaling Jaya.
Everyone else in the house was still asleep. I made a conscious decision to focus only on what I needed to do today.
Then reality checked in.
The shirt was not ironed.
I could not find my trousers.
All my socks were used and still unwashed.
I looked for a pair of trousers on the rack and ironed them. I took socks that were already in the laundry basket.
After Subuh, with my belongings ready, I left the house and started driving. Google Maps showed the total journey would take 1 hour and 10 minutes, with an estimated arrival in Petaling Jaya at 7:38 a.m.
This is my first car after 20 years of working — a Toyota Hilux, a gift for myself 7 years ago, now approaching 120,000 km on the odometer. I had filled up the diesel tank the night before to avoid any morning chaos. The only downside was that the car was a bit dirty, having not been used for almost a month.
On the highway, I was not alone. Hundreds of vehicles were already on the road before sunrise. A clear sign that many people were out early, fighting for their own lives and their families. Waking up early in the morning is often a sign of chasing sustenance and responsibility.
I stopped at R&R Serdang for breakfast. And I stopped again — just to write down how I felt this morning.
Tony Robbins actually talks about self-control. Or in simpler words, being yourself.
Do not allow what happens on the outside to control what happens inside.
Yes, the giant has begun to wake up from a long, deep sleep.
