Written Approval Application to DOE for Installation of Burning Equipment
the purpose of application of written approval for the generator set is to comply with the Section 36 of Environment Quality (Clean Air) Regulations 1978 which states that any person intending to erect, install, resite or alter equipment, plant or facility used for the purpose of heating or generation of power that is rated to comsume liquid at 15kg or more per hour shall obtain prior written approval from the Department of Environment. Any omission or negligence to comply with this requirement will be liable to serious penalty.
The scope of work to obtain written approval for installation of generator set shall include the folowing :-
- To carry out noise level measurement/calculation using approved sound level meter at 1m and 3m away and noise simulation software dBTrait 32. All measurement shall be carried out by noise competent person.
- To predict noise level acoustic at the nearest boundary site with reference to the generator set's wall and its door;
- To calculate the acoustic attenuation of primary and secondary silencer, brick wall and its enclosure door. The acoustic noise rating will be based on noise generated from the engine at 63Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 4kHz & 8kHz. Noise based frequency will be measured by approved noise level mater with Octave band frequency capability.
- To recommend the type of thickness of materials used in the provision of silencer and enclosure's wall and door.
- To measure the level of black smoke from engine exhaust outlet by visual observation so as to comply with level 1 of Ringelman Chart.
- To provide drawings on the dimension of generator set including its components layout.
- To draw site plan showing the location of the proposed generator set within 1000 meter and height of the highest building within 50 meters radius;
- To measure the coordinate geometry location of the generator set within the premise by using GPS instrument.
- All related documents for sumbimission will be endorsed by Prodessional Engineer.
- Completion and submission of AS16B.
