Developing Distinctiveness and Customer Focus


Having successfully got into the business, you are obviously winning some orders from some customers. Equally, your competitors do not stand still. They too, will also be seeking to improve their prospects and services. Discuss  how do you keep track of your competitors’ activities? propose five (5) methods of developing distinctiveness and customer focus.

    a. Developing distinctiveness and customer focus :

i.       Developing customer segments and product/service quality.
ii.      Optimizing price and margins.
iii.     Promotional activities.
iv.     Distinctive distribution.
v.      Improving the effectiveness of the sales team.

b. Keeping tracks of competitors

i.       Buy and analyse their products and services.
ii.      Visit trade exhibition.
iii.     Ask customers what they think about your competitors.
iv.     Work with them , in trade association, in pursuit of higher standards.
