Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang and his writting leagcy

Knowledge as Legacy:

Writing, Teaching & Public Engagement Dr. Zaini feels that knowledge is not complete until it is shared. Writing has been his most enduring tool for dissemination.

I write a lot; that’s how we transfer knowledge,” he says simply. “Distributing knowledge is one of my key roles and my passion.”

To date, he has authored or co-authored more than 53 books, covering water management, sewerage systems, flooding, sustainability, governance and even poetry rooted in environmental consciousness.

His seminal works, such as Water & Sewerage Management in Malaysia and Banjir, are more than academic texts. They are repositories of institutional memory, documenting how our water sector has evolved over decades. He is about to complete his memoirs on the epic 100 days world tour, titled World Tour: 100 Days, 40 Lectures & 15 Countries in both Malay and English. “If you master a subject, it grows with you,” he says. “When I talk about water management in Malaysia, I was involved from the early years. Many technologies we have today exist because of collective contributions made over time.”
